Ultraman X Staff And Plot Details Revealed
The plot and cast details for Ultraman X, Tsuburaya’s upcoming new Ultra Series, have been released.
Like Ultraman Ginga and the currently-broadcasting Ultra Fight Victory, Ultraman X will mainly be broadcast as part of Shin Ultraman Restsuden, taking over the run of episodes. The exact amount of episodes the series will run for has yet to be announced, while the toys for the series will be unveiled in July.
An Ultra Flare from the Sun has enveloped the Earth, causing all the Spark Dolls lying dormant in the land and ocean to be brought back as monsters. To face this new menace, humanity creates a special defense unit called Xio, armed with the latest technology.
15 years later, while battling a monster, Xio member Daichi Oozora hears a mysterious voice telling him “Unite!” Just then, as he was unable to withstand the monster’s attack, an intense light envelopes Daichi. “We have now United! If we join our spirits, we can fight that monster!”
The mysterious light of Ultraman joins with Daichi to become Ultraman X and fight the threats to the Earth.
The series stars 20-year-old Kensuke Takahashi, best known for his recent appearance in the stage version of Hamatora, as Daichi Oozora. Also appearing in the series are Yoshihiko Hosoda (Detroit Metal City), Ukyou Matsumoto, Akane Sakanoue, Sarara Tsukibune (Mielino Kashiwagi), Yu Kamio (Doctor Maki in Kamen Rider OOO), Hayato Harada, Kaiketsu! Tropical Maru member Haruka Momokawa, and Ultra Series band VOYAGER members TAKERU and Chiaki Sejimo.
The main series director will be Kiyotaka Taguchi, a name synonymous with recent kaiju projects like Geharha: The Long-Haired Giant Monster and Giant Monster Movie: G. Recently, he’s worked on Neo Ultra Q, Operation: Mystery – Mystery File, and select episodes of Ultraman Ginga and Ginga S. Joining him will be Hard Revenge Milly director Takanori Tsujimoto, Yuichi Abe (Ultraman Zero: The Movie), Taku Tomita, and fan-favorite Koichi Sakamoto (Kamen Rider Fourze, Ultraman Ginga S, Kyoryuger).
Writing for the series will be Yuji Kobayashi (Ultraseven X, GARO, Ultra Galaxy Legends: The Movie), Takao Nakano (The Rug Cop, Kabuto-O Beetle), Hirotoshi Kobayashi (L: Change The World), and Hisako Kurosawa (Ultraman Ginga, Operation: Mystery – Mystery File).
Ultraman X will premiere as part of Shin Ultraman Retsuden’s next cour of episodes on July 14th.
