VIZ to Release Ultraman Manga this August
VIZ Media announced the highly anticipated release today via twitter.
The Ultraman manga, which began publication in 2011, is written and drawn by the creators of Linebarrels of Iron, Eiichi Shimizu and Tomohiro Shimoguchi. Ultraman tells the story of Shinjiro Hayata, son of the first Ultraman from the groundbreaking 1966 TV series. Unlike his father, Shinjiro does not grow to giant size to combat monsters. Instead, he dons a set of powered armor, created by original SSSP member Mitsuhiro Ide, to do battle.
The manga is still ongoing and is currently published in Japan in Monthly Hero’s magazine. Thanks to VIZ, come August, fans in English speaking countries will finally be able to enjoy the series. The first volume will be released on August 18th under the VIZ Signature imprint. This is the latest in a string of Western Ultraman acquisitions.
