Cast and Staff Messages After Kamen Rider Gaim Finale

gf1Following the show’s finale that aired on September 28, Toei’s official Kamen Rider Gaim blog posted the heartfelt last thoughts and messages from the show’s cast and crew.

Under the blog’s “Production Notes,” the post highlighted the various wrap up photos for various characters.

For Riza Izumi, who played Kōta’s older sister, Akira, it was the first time she worked with the same director and camerman since Sailor Moon. When Ryo Matsuda, who played Jounouchi Hideyasu, read the script, he was really glad that Jonouchi’s character would honor the duo he had formed with Hase with a final transformation into Kamen Rider Kurokage.

Metal Yoshida constantly said it was a lot of fun playing Oren and became a fatherly figure for the younger set of Riders. As for Gaku Matsuda, himself as well as the staff, confessed they didn’t think Zack would become such an important character.

Furthermore, the staff recalls having a hard time casting DJ Sagara and approached Tomomitsu Yamaguchi expecting the worst, however, Yamaguchi gladly accepted the offer.

Mahiro Takasugi finished his scene alone and said he enjoyed playing Mitsuzane all the way. He also visited the set when Yuki Kubota, who played his older brother Takatora, wrapped up his scenes at the fruit parlor.

It was an emotional final day of shooting for Gaku Sano (Kōta), Yutaka Kobayashi (Kaito) and Yumi Shida (Mai). After wrapping up, Shida burst into tears while Kobayashi held them in the best he could. However, when it was time for Sano to wrap, everyone, including people from the staff, could not fight it anymore and a lot of crying ensued.

Final Words

Yuki Kubota (Takatora Kureshima / Kamen Rider Zangetsu / Kamen Rider Zangetsu Shin)

Thank you for the support during the entire year. Kamen Rider Gaim was the joint work of everyone involved. I hope the percentage of juice increases in the fruit of your hearts. (It’s time for juice percentages!)

It’s sad to think I won’t meet with the melon again. Melos. I’ll keep believing I’ll meet you as Takatora Kureshima once again, let’s wait for the winter movie. Everyone, untill then, run like Melos!

Thank you, yours truly.

Mahiro Takasugi (Mitsuzane Kureshima / Kamen Rider Ryugen / Kamen Rider Zangetsu Shin)

Hello, this is Takasugi! Thank you for all the support over this year. I’m happy I was able to play a character like Mitsuzane Kureshima. I was able to grow with Mitsuzane, learning a lot from everyone on Gaim.

I will continue to do my best from now on.

Yuumi Shida (Mai Takatsugi)

I’m really sorry I was so hesitant at first and affect the work of the others. I was able to relax and perform on set thanks to being surrounded by a wonderful staff and cast. There are many people who became fans while watching Gaim and I’m very grateful. I’m so glad I met Gaim! I love you all!

Yutaka Kobayashi (Kaito Kumon / Kamen Rider Baron)

Hello again, it’s Kobayashi. I’m surprised by how fast Gaim came to an end since it feels as if it started just moments ago. The character I play, Kaito, has a personality completely different from mine. I was able to grow as a person thanks to Kaito. I cannot describe the gratitude I feel for Kaito Kumon. Even as Kamen Rider Gaim ends, I want to continue growing alongside Kamen Rider Baron / Kaito Kumon. I won’t say goodbye, we’ll meet again!

Gaku Sano (Kōta Kazuraba / Kamen Rider Gaim)

Everyone! Thank you so much for this past year! I will continue to do my best so we can eventually meet once again. I hope I will have your support then as well.

This is my stage now!

It’s Izumi Rika, the name of the actress that played Akira. Not Izumi Riza.
