Samurai Sentai Shinkenger Shinkenmaru -MEMORIAL EDITION- Announced

Following the release of the Transformation Cell Phone ShodoPhone -MEMORIAL EDITION-, Premium Bandai announced the Secret Playback Katana Shinkenmaru is also getting a -MEMORIAL EDITION- release.

The Secret Playback Katana Shinkenmaru is the primary weapon for the core five Shinkengers. It is activated by taking any of the Hiden Disks from the buckle on the Shinkengers’ belts and attaching it to the hilt to become the guard. By spinning that Hiden Disk, the Shinkenmaru powers up depending on the disk attached. By spinning the Common Hiden Disks fast enough, the Shinkenmaru transforms into the Shinkengers’ signature weapon. It is also used to control the Origami, and summon several of them.

The Memorial Edition version measures 800mm in length, which is 190% larger compared to the original DX toy. The balance of the blade has been revised to achieve a proportion closer to the one seen in the series. The paint color has also been revised, and the surface details have been faithfully replicated with fine modeling to closely resemble the ome in the TV series.

The set also comes with six Hiden Disks, which are the Common Disk, and the five Origami Disks (Shishi Disk, Ryuu Disk, Kame Disk, Kuma Disk, and Saru Disk). These disks have been redesigned to match the new size of the Shinkenmaru. The side and back have been given a more three-dimensional shape, making them more accurate to the one seen in the series.

This version of the Shinkenmaru is packed with various sound effects including: the sound when inserting a Hiden Disk, the sound of unsheathing the sword, the sound of carrying the Shinkenmaru on your shoulder, the sound of stroking the blade, the sound of clappers, and many other sound effects are included for each character. You can switch between each character by switching between each mode.

The rotation of the Hiden Disk while it is set in the Shinkenmaru is now smoother, with less interference between parts. Pressing the trigger activates the sword attack sound and the rotation of the Hiden Disk can activate special move sounds for each character, including “Shinkenmaru Flame Dance”, as well as the combined special move sounds.

Like previous -MEMORIAL EDITION- releases, there is also has a BGM Button, which can play while role playing. Aside from the TV size version of the show’s theme song, it also plays two other songs. The end of the handle is equipped with a Control Button, thus allowing you to recreate the action of controlling the team’s giant robot, Shinken-Oh. Aside from its various sound effects, you can also activate Shinken-Oh’s finisher by rotating the Hiden Disk.

The set includes the Shinkenmaru -MEMORIAL EDITION- and 6 types of Hiden Disks. The Shinkenmaru measures a height of approx. 800mm x width of approx. 85mm x depth of approx. 130mm while each Hiden Desk measures a diameter of approx. 105mm and thickness of approx. 10mm. 3 AAA batteries are required (sold separately).

The Samurai Sentai Shinkenger Shinkenmaru -MEMORIAL EDITION- from Samurai Sentai Shinkenger will go for 33,000 Yen (tax included) and is scheduled for shipment in February 2026. Preorders are being accepted until October 3, 2025, at 23:00 JST.
