Kamen Rider Zi-O’s Rihito Itagaki Stars in “Colorful Love” Drama
Kamen Rider Zi-O’s Rihito Itagaki trades out time hijinks for fashion and love in his latest television drama casting.
On March 2, it was announced that a new drama would be airing in April titled Colorful Love: Genderless Danshi ni Aisareteimasu (literal translation: I’m loved by a genderless boy) which is based on a manga of the same name. It has been ongoing since 2018 and is created by Tamekou. The title of the English-translated manga is My Androgynous Boyfriend.
The premise of the show follows Wako Machida and her androgynous boyfriend Meguru Soma in their daily lives. As described by MyAnimeList: “She spends her days working hard in the world of publishing, while he spends his time obsessing over fashion and makeup—all with the goal of making himself beautiful just for her. This romantic slice-of-life story is about love, relationships, and breaking with tradition!”
The couple Wako and Meguru will be played by Ai Yoshikawa and Rihito Itagaki respectively. Itagaki is best remembered by tokusatsu fans as Heure, the villain time jacker in Kamen Rider Zi-O. He expressed excitement in an interview regarding the role that it will be his first starring role. He had this to say to viewers, “I want to create a glittering and precious space that matches the original with Yoshikawa-san and the other wonderful cast members. Please enjoy this colorful world that’s so full of love on Thursday night!”
Colorful Love is set to air on YomiuriTV on April 1st.
