Toei launches Toei Tokusatsu World Official YouTube channel featuring classic tokusatsu series with English subtitles starting next month.
Starting on April 6, 2020, Toei will begin the launch of Toei Tokusatsu World Official, a new YouTube channel aimed at sharing tokusatsu series from the 70s, 80s, and 90s with the world. The channel will be host to many of Toei’s numerous tokusatsu properties, including entries from the Metal Hero series such as Space Sheriff Gavan, Space Sheriff Sharivan, Space Wolf Juspion, and Special Rescue Police Winspector. the first two entries in the Super Sentai franchise, Himitsu Sentai Goranger, and JAKQ Dengekitai. Other tokusatsu series like La Belle Fille Masquée Poitorine and Choukou Senshi Changerion, as well as mecha anime like Voltes V and Chōdenji Robo Combattler V, will be featured on the channel, with more titles to be added later on.
The first two episodes of each season from the 1970s will be available at launch with English subtitles with the next two episodes being loaded over the following weeks. Although the content has yet to be made available, fans can already subscribe to the channel here. To help promote and share the channel, Toei has introduced a newly created character named Contenmaru, a ninja fox who loves onigiri and dreams of someday becoming as cool a hero like the ones he will study on Toei Tokusatsu World Official. This announcement comes the same week that the original 1971 series of Toei’s major property Kamen Rider has been made available in the U.S. via Pluto!TV and Shout! FactoryTV’s new venture, TokuSHOUTsu.
