Yellow Bricks Drama Reunites Gaku Sano and Yutaka Kobayashi
Historical drama featuring stars of Kamen Rider Gaim and Ultraman will debut this fall.
Earlier this week, it was announced that actors Gaku Sano and Yutaka Kobayashi will star alongside Ken Yasuda in the drama Kiiroi Renga (Yellow Bricks)~ The Man Who Tricked Frank Lloyd Wright to air this fall. The story will center around the Japanese city of Tokoname in Aichi prefecture, which is well known for its ceramics. Over 100 years ago, famous architect Frank Lloyd Wright reached out to Kichinosuke Hisada to procure yellow bricks rather than traditional red bricks for the construction of the exterior of the Imperial Hotel in Tokyo. Before construction was completed, Hisada tragically lost his arm due to illness. The series will follow a dramatized version of the actual events based on a book created from accounts of the people who worked on the construction of the hotel.
Ken Yasuda (Aoi Honno, Gintama) will star as Kichinosuke Hisada and Return of Ultraman lead Jiro Dan will play his father. The cast will also include former figure skater-turned-actress Kanako Murakami as the writer looking into Hisada’s history and Taiyou Sugiura (Ultraman Cosmos) as her publisher. Sano and Kobayashi will play an employee of the Imperial Hotel and a craftsman from Tokoname, respectively. The show is a reunion for the two actors after getting their start in 2013’s Kamen Rider Gaim in the lead roles of Kouta Kazuraba/ Kamen Rider Gaim and Kaito Kumon/ Kamen Rider Baron. Both reprised their roles for the currently airing Kamen Rider Zi-O earlier this season.
Kiiroi Renga will be broadcast starting on November 27 on NHK in Japan.

“…and ULTRASEVEN lead Jiro Dan will play his father”.
