First BOOM! Studios shattered the grid, now the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers comics are going BEYOND THE GRID, with a new creative team in addition to the new Ranger team. The new team consisting of Kimberly Hart (The Ranger Slayer), Cameron Watanabe (Ninja Storm Green), Tanya Sloan (Zeo/Turbo Yellow), Andros (Space Red), Mike Corbett (Magna Defender), and Heckyl from Dino Charge (Dark Ranger) are faced with all sorts of new and mysterious challenges in these issues.
Lord Drakkon’s threat to the Morphin Grid may be over, but The Promethea (The Power Ranger’s main base in Shattered Grid) and the Rangers aboard have already found themselves in a new crisis as the reality-shattering events of the former teleported the space station to a strange unknown reality. The arrival to this reality is also a physically felt one as the Promethea suffers all manner of structural damage that leaves it crippled and all the Rangers completely or very near drained of power.
Nonetheless, the Rangers are able to just barely hold it together and regroup, quickly taking up the roles they know they can fill and begin working to ensure the survival and safe return of all those aboard. Eventually, the silence of the void beyond the grid is broken by a distress signal. The Rangers find out that not only are they not alone, but are potentially in greater danger than they thought.
The first parts of “Beyond the Grid,” are out and they are astounding. Awesome writing, and art that truly conveys the alien uneasiness of the new dimension these Mighty Morphin Power Rangers find themselves in.
