Kamen Rider Den-O’s Takeru Satoh Cast in Gibo to Musume no Blues Live-Action Series
Kamen Rider Den-O‘s Takeru Satoh has been cast in an upcoming live-action series coming this July.
A live-action adaptation of Rin Sakurazawa’s Gibo to Musume no Blues (A Stepmother and Daughter’s Blues) was announced along with the first cast announcement on May 1st. An additional casting announcement was made on May 30th, with Takeru Satoh as the primary new addition. Satoh, apart from playing Ryutaro in Kamen Rider Den-O, has taken the Japanese film and TV world by storm with his leading roles in Rurouni Kenshin and Bakuman. In his latest role as Akira Mugita, Satoh will portray a character described as the show’s “eye of the storm” that influences the protagonist’s family.
Joining him in the main cast will be Haruka Ayase (Balsa in Moribito: Guardian of the Spirit) as Akiko Iwaki, and Yutaka Takenouchi (Hideki Akasaka in Shin Godzilla) as Ryouichi Miyamoto (seen in the picture above). Additional cast includes Naho Yokomizo, Yosuka Asari, Kazuyuki Asano, Yumi Asou, Yousuke Kawamura, Mami Hashimoto, Marin, and Yoshie Okuyama. Yuichiro Hirakawa and Yuji Nakamae are directing the series, with Yoshiko Morishita writing the script.
The manga starts off when Ryouichi Miyamoto, a divorcee, and father of an 8-year-old daughter, proposes to and marries Akiko Iwaki, a career-minded 32-year-old woman. With both unaccustomed to household tasks, the story revolves around the couple trying to figure out how to raise their daughter. The show will premiere on TBS in July and will air on Tuesdays at 10:00 p.m.
