Kamen Rider Amazons and Tokusatsu Movies Receive Nominations at Japan Action Awards 2017
The Japan Action Awards have nominated Kamen Rider Amazons and tokusatsu movies for Kamen Rider, Super Sentai and Cutie Honey, at this year’s annual event.
The Amazon Prime series, Kamen Rider Amazons has been nominated for multiple awards for this year’s annual Japan Action Awards. The Japan Action Awards began in 2013 to celebrate the accolades of the Japanese action/stunt industry. The Japan Action Awards 2017 event will be held March 18th.
Kamen Rider Amazons is nominated for the Best Action Award. Other tokusatsu productions nominated include Cutie Honey: Tears, Shuriken Sentai Ninninger vs. ToQger the Movie: Ninjas in Wonderland, Kamen Rider #1, Kamen Rider Ghost the Movie: The 100 Eyecons and Ghost’s Fated Moment and Doubutsu Sentai Zyuohger the Movie: Dokidoki Circus Panic! The other nominees in this category are Hero Mania, Night Hero NAOTO, Hentai Kamen: Abnormal Crisis, Terra Formars, Saraba Abunai Deka, Showa’s Strongest High School Graduate – Kokushi Arrives!!, Nobunaga Concerto , I Am a Hero, The Mole Song: Hong Kong Capriccio, Assassination Classroom: Graduation, Road to High & Low, Himeanole, Destruction Babies, Sanada 10 Braves, High & Low The Red Rain, Moribito: Guardian of the Spirit, The Last Cop, Ishikawa Goemon, Sanadamaru, Haou: Genealogy of Bad Blood, and Musashi Ninpō-den Ninja Reppū.
Kamen Rider Amazons is also nominated for the Best Action Scene Award. Other nominees for this category include Moribito: Guardian of the Spirit, Hentai Kamen:Abnormal Crisis, Night Hero NAOTO, IQ 246, High & Low The Movie, Saraba Abunai Deka, Showa’s Strongest High School Graduate – Kokushi Arrives!!, and Haou: Genealogy of Bad Blood.
Keiya Tabuchi has been nominated for the Best Action Director Award for his work on Kamen Rider Amazons, Karate Kill, and Hentai Kamen: The Abnormal Crisis. His competition for the award are Eiji Morisaki for Night Hero NAOTO, Hero Mania, Himeanole, and IQ 246, Koichi Funayama for Moribito: Guardian of the Spirit, Seiji Mori for Showa’s Strongest High School Graduate – Kokushi Arrives!!, Takahito Ouchi for Road To High & Low and High & Low Red Rain, Yuji Shimomura for I Am a Hero and Hiroyuki Yoshida for Museum, Higanjima and Majisuka Gakuen.
For the Best Action Actress Award we have Kanon Miyahara who portrayed Nozomi Takai in Kamen Rider Amazons. The other nominees for the award are Rina Takeda for her role as Akane in Dokumushi, Haruka Ayase for her role as Balsa in Moribito: Guardian of the Spirit, Mariya Nishiuchi for her portrayal as Cutie Honey in Cutie Honey:Tears, and Nanoa for her performance in The Mole Song: Hong Kong Capriccio as Hufon.
Kamen Rider Amazons premiered April 1, 2016 on the Amazon Prime streaming service, and is based on the 1974 Showa era Kamen Rider Amazon series. The series is characterized for its more adult nature and graphic content, a second season was announced last year and is set to premiere April, 2017.

All three of the Amazon Rider suit actors from Kamen Rider Amazons are nominated for the Best Stuntman Award; Yugo Fujii, Hirokazu Iwakami, and Makoto Arakawa for their portrayals as Kamen Riders Amazon Omega, Alpha and Sigma respectively. Arakawa previously won the Best Stuntman Award in the 2015 Japan Action Awards. The other stuntmen nominated for this award are Haruka Oshima in Moribito: Guardian of the Spirit, Daisuke Hibari and Yukihiro Sakate for their roles in Himeanole, Koshige Namihei for Cutie Honey: Tears, Kazumasa Seki in Saraba Abunai Deka, and Masahito Okamoto.
