Yasushi Nirasawa, Tokusatsu Creature Designer, Passes Away at 52
Yasushi Nirasawa, a designer known for his iconic tokusatsu creature designs passes away at the age of 52.
A twitter post shared via Yasushi Nirasawa’s Twitter page reports he passed away on February 2, 2016 due to kidney failure. The company ART STORM will be holding a memorial in honor of Nirasawa.
Report: Yasushi Nirasawa suddenly passed away on February 2 due to Renal Failure. Age 52. We are very grateful for the many support during this time. We are currently planning a memorial to honor Nirasawa alongside Armstrom. Nirasawa’s creatures will forever be engraved in our hearts.
GARO creator Keita Amemiya later tweeted, “Even in times of pain, we are able to smile thanks to those who keep us in their thoughts. Thank you”
Some of Nirasawa’s works include the WORM in Kamen Rider Kabuto, the Horrors in GARO, the Zangyack from Gokaiger, and Iron Man Rise of Technovore.
