Gaim’s Mahiro Takasugi Makes Stage Debut with TRUMP
Upcoming stage production, TRUMP, announced Kamen Rider Gaim actor, Mahiro Takasugi for his first role in theater.
Mahiro Takasugi, better known for his role as Mitsuzane Kureshima in Kamen Rider Gaim will make his first theater debut in the play, TRUMP. He will be sharing the stage with actor Yuki Saotome and they will alternate their parts.
In a world inhabited by both mortal humans and the bloodsucking Vamps, TRUMP tells the story of Sofi, a half-human half-vamp and Ul, a noble Vamp and their struggle for life at the loss of their immortality. The story takes place at the Gymnasium, an educational institution for young Vamps.
This is not only Takasugi’s first incursion in theater but the first time he will be playing a double part along his co-star, Yuki Saotome.
Takasugi, who recently starred in the drama Silver Spoon (Gin no Spoon), stated:
In contrast to the normally scary image vampires have, our characters speak of bonds and life. I want to give that priority when playing the part. Playing two characters with such closeness was very intense. I was doubtful that I could do it at first but now 80% of it is just the fun. Yuki and I will be able to enrich our performances by watching the other.
TRUMP, written by playwright Kenichi Sueura opens on November 19th at Zepp Blue Theatre Roppongi and will run a season until November 29th.
