Dean Israelite to Direct Upcoming “Power Rangers” Film
Variety magazine reports Project Almanac director, Dean Israelite, has been tapped by Lionsgate to direct the upcoming Power Rangers film.
While producers and writers were announced for the upcoming Power Rangers reboot film by Lionsgate, the director of the picture has remained in question. Variety reports Dean Israelite (Project Almanac) has been tapped to fill the vacant slot on the film’s staff. Israelite is a relatively new director, with 2014’s Project Almanac being his first major motion picture credit.
The Power Rangers film is currently being produced by Haim Saban, Brian Cassentini (of Saban Brands), and Allison Shearmur (Cinderella) with a script being written by X-Men: First Class and Thor writers Ashley Miller and Zack Stentz. Roberto Orci was set to be Executive Producer, but has left the project due to commitments with Star Trek 3.
The movie is set to release July 22, 2016.
