Summary of Zi-O SG Watcher: Vol.38

From the archive of Bandai’s candy toy blog series for Kamen Rider Zi-O, with the reveal of Kamen Rider Kikai for SO-DO Kamen Rider Zi-O: RIDE PLUS.

The man currently in charge of candy toy development goes by G, and in honor of Zi-O, he is now going by the name Gi-O.

The newest reveal here is Kamen Rider Kikai, the last figure to be revealed for SO-DO Kamen Rider Zi-O: RIDE PLUS.

Much like all of the Miriders, Kikai makes use of an existing design, namely the Guardians from Kamen Rider Build. These appeared in its SO-DO line, but Kikai features swappable hands. Many of the small details on Kikai’s suit are recreated.

Gi-O proceeds to display Kikai with various items from the Option Parts Set in the wave. When displaying Kikai with 4 of the Gigants, he is reminded of Kamen Rider Psyga from the Kamen Rider 555 movie, who told Kusaka “After all, you are only human.” Gi-O feels that the quote fits the world view of Kikai’s setting, the year of 2121.

He goes on to display all of the figures for this line that have gold, which have subtle differences.

“Reddish gold, yellowish gold, whitish gold”

Gi-O provides some transparency on the color gold, and how it is a difficult color to work with on toys. Particularly, shades of color can differ when seen on a monitor or on paper.

“Even if you look at a high-quality suit photo, the appearance of the color is also different depending on the degree of light and the paper quality of the photo.”

With that, Gi-O ends by showing a teaser, which leads to a proper reveal.

Due to popular demand, RIDE PLUS 2 is being revealed ahead of schedule, with an August release date. This set includes Diend from Kamen Rider Decade, Hattari from the Kamen Rider Shinobi spinoff, and Ginga from Zi-O‘s then-recent Kiva arc.

From the lineup, it can be seen that Hattari receives his swords, Diend will have the DienDriver and Neo DienDriver, and there will be two display stands in the set.
