BOOM! Studios introduces in Mighty Morphin Power Rangers Year Two Deluxe a new team of rangers, Power Rangers Supersonic, based on Chikyu Sentai Fiveman.

Chikyu Sentai Fiveman, the 14th Super Sentai series that aired in Japan in 1990, is comprised of the five Hoshikawa siblings of the Hoshikawa family: Gaku (the oldest), Ken (second brother), Kazumi (older sister), and the twins Fumiya and Remi. The five siblings were separated from their parents during a sudden Zone attack and sent along with Arthur G6 (their mentor) to be raised and learn of the Fiveman technology their parents have developed. As teachers at New Town School, each Ranger suit is themed after different school subjects. FiveRed’s helmet icon represents science, FiveBlue for gym, FiveBlack for foreign language, FiveYellow for music, and FivePink for math.

Later, Power Rangers Super Megaforce reveals the Power Rangers Supersonic to be one of the “new Legendary Ranger Modes” the Super Megaforce Rangers transformed into. In an episode, Super Megaforce Yellow transforms into the Supersonic Yellow Ranger for one fight scene and exclaims “Supersonic Yellow!”

Written by Trey Moore, the Supersonic Rangers are introduced to be coming from a distant planet known as Xybria and their names are revealed:

•Ace: Red Ranger (FiveRed)
•Brute: Blue Ranger (FiveBlue)
•Gent: Black Ranger (FiveBlack)
•Pyre: Yellow Ranger (FiveYellow)
•Star: Pink Ranger (FivePink)

BOOM! Studios also introduced an original sixth Ranger that was not in the Sentai, the Green Supersonic Ranger named Trek.

More information on their involvement in the comics to be revealed at a later date.
