Toho Teases Godzilla: The Planet Eater With Release Date
Toho Animation has released a teaser trailer for the conclusion to their animated Godzilla trilogy and confirmed a release date for Japan.
Last year, on November 17, Toho introduced the world to a new animated Godzilla film with Godzilla: Planet of the Monsters. Earlier this year, the first film was followed up with Godzilla: City on the Edge of Battle. The first film envisioned a world where humans fought to defeat Godzilla only to discover an even more dangerous monster known as Godzilla Earth. In the sequel, they attempted to defeat him with the help of Mechagodzilla. Now, a teaser trailer has revealed when the final chapter will be released in movie theaters.
The narration by Metphies (voiced by Takahiro Sakurai) translates to “Now, you’d better kneel down and worship, the golden end.” This line paired with the inclusion of the same visual seen on the above poster likely hints at the inclusion of Godzilla’s longtime rival, King Ghidorah, due to his gold color and three heads. Ghidorah was also mentioned at the end of the second film. All will be revealed when Godzilla: The Planet Eater releases in Japan on November 9th of this year.
