Bandai And Toho Announce Godzilla Special Exhibition in Taiwan
Bandai and Toho announced an exhibition celebrating Godzilla opening from June 30th to September 16th of this year.
Godzilla is often cited as the first true tokusatsu production, and the franchise that grew out of the original film is still relevant today. The second installment in a trilogy of animated Godzilla movies released last month, the conclusion to that series is set to be released in November, and it was revealed earlier this month that Deadpool 2‘s Julian Dennsion would be included in the upcoming Godzilla vs Kong. Now, as a collaboration between Bandai Co. Ltd. and Toho Eizo Bijutsu Co. Ltd., a special exhibition is being held in Taiwan to offer fans of Godzilla an exclusive look behind the scenes.
For the first time outside Japan, diorama sets and other production materials from the Toho Studios warehouses will be on display in order for visitors to learn more about how the Japanese tokusatsu film industry. The exhibition will also feature over 150 Godzilla items available for purchase including merchandise exclusive to this event.
A press release from Bandai Namco describes the Taiwan-exclusive “Movie Monster Series: Shin Godzilla” figure which is based on the scene from 2016’s Shin Godzilla where Godzilla himself uses his atomic breath. Also according to the press release, event-exclusive “t-shirts, hoodies, tote bags, mugs, towels, and much more” will be available for purchase.
“Godzilla Encounter” is a collaboration between Bandai and Toho Eizo Bijutsu in partnership with the exhibition’s organizer, udnFunLife Co., Ltd. To introduce original Japanese intellectual properties (IP) to overseas audiences, Bandai will continue to work with overseas partners to develop events and exhibitions in the future
This Godzilla special exhibition will be held at Songshan Cultural and Creative Park No. 1 Warehouse in Taipei, Taiwan. The exhibition will run from June 30th to Sepetember 16th, 2018.
