Cosplayer Feature: Kazoku

Kazoku is a cosplaying dream team who shows just how precious family is, and how fun it is to cosplay with them.

What got you interested in cosplay?

Well, it’s all about spending quality time together as a family and teaching the kids’ family value through the storyline of our shows. We also do it for charity! We love to make unfortunate kids smile with our appearance, being able to meet their hero, and making their dream come true.

When and how did you discover tokusatsu?

Being a father, when I was still a little kid, I loved Space Sheriff Gavan. Then it came back in 2015, and my older son, Along, said to me, “Dad, look at this Kamen Rider! He’s so cool! Let’s be Kamen Rider! You can be the villain.”

Can you walk us through your process of creating a cosplay?
I start from scratch. I’m making friends with a costume maker from another country to start an online tutorial.

If you could cosplay any character, who would it be?
Nezam (father) – Kamen Rider Lupin
Along (older son) – Kamen Rider Build
Adam (younger son) – Kamen Rider Faiz

What is your favorite tokusatsu series and why?
Nezam – Kamen Rider Kiva because he’s a little bit like me–I love music.
Along – Kamen Rider OOO because he has many forms and is strong.
Adam – Kamen Rider Raia because I love animal power!

What’s the funniest experience you’ve had while cosplaying?
People asking how dad and sons can share a hobby like this!

What advice would you give to yourself when you first started?
Just rock n’ roll!!

Do you have any cosplays you’re currently working on that you’d like to share?
It won’t be a surprise if I share it now!

You can check out Kazoku and follow their upcoming work on their Facebook page.
