Takara Tomy Produces New Magical Girl Show, Mahou x Senshi Majimajo Pures!

The second production in Takara Tomy’s Mahou x Senshi series of shows helmed by director Takashi Miike is set to debut this spring.

Director Takashi Miike (Ichi The Killer, JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Diamond is Unbreakable Chapter I) is currently directing a new magical girl television series under the name Mahou x Senshi Majimajo Pures! Although not directly connected to his previous and currently-airing work Idol x Senshi Miracle Tunes!, Majimajo Pures is the second magical girl series to be produced under the toy and entertainment company Takara Tomy.

On her first day of middle school, Momoka (Yuki Miyoshi) is approached by a mysterious cat-like creature named Mokonyan (voiced by Sakura Andō) who encourages her to join the magical girl team known as Majimajo Pures. She joins fellow team members Rin (Momoka Sumitani) and Mitsuki (Misaki Tsuruya) under the guidance of a jewel shop owner by the name of Tiara (former AKB 48 member Marika Shinoda) to stop the evil Jyamakai from stealing innocent people’s dreams. The leader of the Jyamakai is the evil Jama Danshuku, played by Kenichi Endo, who has previously appeared in Ninja Sentai Kakuranger as Young Noble Junior, as well as Tokusou Sentai Dekaranger (Special Investigation Sentai Dekaranger) The Movie: Full Blast Action as Algolgian Volka. Jama Danshuki leads his henchmen Mudako (Akosuya Miki), Muritaro (Louis Kurihara), and Damenojo (Osamu Fujiki), who steal dreams using the power of the Akiramestones.

Takara Tomy has previously produced tokusatsu and toy collaboration series such as Tomika Hero: Rescue Force and Tomika Hero: Rescue Fire, both of which had similar first responder themes but were also unrelated to one another.

Mahou x Senshi Majimajo Pures! is set to air on TV Tokyo this spring. A special live event will be held to promote the show on Sunday, March 25th.
