Gintama Movie Sequel Announced

A sequel to last summer’s Gintama movie has been announced on the website for the film. Kamen Rider W’s Masaki Suda starred in the first movie as Gintoki’s sidekick Shinpachi Shmura.

The second film, tentatively titled Gintama 2, will be opening in theaters on August 17th.  The first film opened last July and made 980 million yen ($8.9 million US) in just the first four days it was in theaters. The film also received a limited release in the United States thanks to Azoland Pictures, as previously reported.

Actor Shun Oguri, who played the lead role of Gintoki, returns as well as actor Jiro Sato, who played Takechi Henpeita in the first movie but teased he will have a different role in the second. Other actors have yet to be announced officially.
