The Grandmaster Ranger is a U.S. cosplayer known for his morphing videos and love of tokusatsu.

What got you interested into cosplay?

In high school, I started liking anime more seriously and decided to get into cosplay. Once I was introduced to tokusatsu, I shifted my cosplays towards the Rangers I liked.

When and how did you discover tokusatsu?

When I got back from my first deployment from the army, I came across Gokaiger by mistake and happily watched the whole thing. A week later, I attended Power Morphicon 2014 and the rest was history.

If you could cosplay any character, who would it be?

AkibaRed or Quantum Ranger (Megabattle mode).

What is your favorite tokusatsu series and why?

I wouldn’t say I have a favorite series because I enjoy them all. I do have a fondness for Kamen Rider Drive and Kaizoku Sentai Gokaiger though.

What’s the funniest experience you’ve had while cosplaying?

I recently did a funny shoot in a Kamen Rider W bikini that gave my friends a good laugh!

What advice would you give to yourself when you first started?

When it comes to starting a tokusatsu cosplay, never order the most expensive thing to be commissioned. It’s best to either make it or buy something used, so you can merit its worth. That way you know how serious you’ll take a more expensive cosplay in the future.

Where can we find your work?

You can find all my cosplay or video morphs on my Facebook page. The Power Morphicon Facebook page also occasionally shares my work, so feel free to check them out.

Do you have any cosplays you’re currently working on that you’d like to share?

I’m currently in the process of putting together a ShiShi Red cosplay from Uchuu Sentai Kyuranger.

Editor-in-Chief obsessed with karate bugmen, spandex heroes, & giant men of light.
