Godzilla to Appear at Kohaku Uta Gassen

The Tokusatsu giant will appear at the end-of-year music contest.

NHK’s Kohaku Uta Gassen (Red and White Song Contest) is a musical competition between two teams (red and white) that takes place at the end of every year in Japan. The teams are composed of some of Japan’s most prominent musical acts, with viewers voting on a winner at the end of the contest. The teams are split by gender, females make up the red team while males are on the white team.

This year, Godzilla will make his debut appearance at the contest. It’s mentioned that he will “attack” the contest with a team of heroes appearing to stop him. Shin Godzilla’s composer, Shiro Sagisu, will compose the contest’s opening theme, “Fly into the Sun”, which he calls a positive, forward-thinking message.
