Kamen Rider/Super Sentai Movie Opens at 4th, Godzilla Remains in 1st
The latest Kamen Rider/Super Sentai film premiered this past weekend.
The double bill Kamen Rider Ghost the Movie: The 100 Eyecons and Ghost’s Fateful Moment and Dobutsu Sentai Zyuohger the Movie: The Heart Pounding Circus Panic, opened at 4th at the Japanese box office this weekend. The movies earned an estimated $2.7 million and were the highest grossing new release of the weekend. Toei predicts the films will go on to earn over $14 million during the course of its run.
The latest Godzilla film, Shin Godzilla, remained at the top of the box office for a second week, earning a total of $20 million in its run thus far. The film also surpassed the previous Japanese Godzilla film, Godzilla: Final Wars, over the weekend. TOHO projects the movie will earn around $39 million during its domestic run.
Funimation also announced that Shin Godzilla, also known as Godzilla: Resurgence, will be released in US theaters later this year.
