“Juicy Kid” Selected for Lead Role in Live Action Yo-Kai Watch Film

Child actor from Kamen Rider Gummi commercials to play Keita in upcoming film.

The third feature film installment of the immensely popular Yo-Kai Watch anime and video game series, The Flying Whale and Double World Big Adventure is scheduled to release December 17th, 2016. This film will be different than the previous two, as it will incorporate live actors with animated characters. Ten year old Ryoka Minamide, who previously had roles in live action TV dramas Morning Has Come and Anohana: I Still Don’t Know the Name of the Flower We Saw That Day has been selected to portray the human protagonist, Keita.

Minamide is perhaps best known to tokusatsu fans as the “Juicy Kid” in the Kamen Rider Gummi series of commercials. In the commercials, he at first believes that the candies are “just regular gummis”, only to be overwhelmed by their flavor and exclaim, “JUICY!”

He also made an on-screen acting appearance in episode 5 of Kamen Rider Ghost.

The “Double World” of the film’s title refers to both the animated world and the “real” live action world.

An advance ticket promotion, which features the Jibanyan Real Version Yo-Kai Dream Medal as a pre-order bonus will be available on July 16th.
