Mairghread Scott Tapped to Write Saber Rider Comic

Lion Forge comics is set to release a book based on the famous 80’s animated series.

Saber Rider and the Star Sheriffs was a cartoon from 1987 that was a re-cut of the anime Star Musketeer Bismark. Saber Rider was a part of the big 80’s action cartoon boom, along with shows like Voltron, and Transformers. The story follows Saber Rider and his friends in the Earth’s Calvary Command as they keep order in the lawless frontier of space.

Writer Mairghread Scott, known for her work on Transformers: Windblade and MMPR #0’s backup story, will write a new series based on the show for Lion Forge comics, with art by Sendol. Lion Forge is home to original comics like Joshua Run, and adaptations like Miami Vice and Airwolf.

The first issue of the new series comes out March 16th, and will cost $2.99. While you wait, check out our interview with Scott and Kyle Higgins.

And what does this have to do with tokusatsu?

Mairghread Scott was also a writer for the new Power Rangers comics from BOOM! Studios and Saber Rider is one of the many mecha based anime / shows that also pique the interest of tokusatsu fans. I’d like to also point out that Anime News Network and other similar outlets do plenty of interesting posts and articles that pique the interest of anime fans that don’t necessarily or directly have to do with anime itself.

      Thanks for your feedback, though.
