Saban Brands Extends their Trademark for the Anime, Smile! Precure adaptation, Glitter Force

Glitter Force

Saban Brands extends their trademark for the anime, Smile! Precure adaptation, Glitter Force.

Smile! PreCure, the 2013 entry into the franchise, written by Kamen Rider Kabuto writer Shoji Yonemura, has been acquired by Saban Brands as Glitter Force. A Glitter Force trademark was initially registered in 2013 but had not come to fruition.

Glitter Force, Saban Brands’ newest series, was recently announced and will follow five preteen girls who form the legendary superhero squad the Glitter Force and must defend Earth from evil fairytale villains.

The PreCure (Pretty Cure) magical girl series began in 2004 with Futari wa Pretty Cure and is produced by Toei Animation, the animation studio of Toei, who also produce Kamen Rider and Super Sentai. PreCure currently airs Sundays after Kamen Rider. Much like Kamen Rider and Super Sentai, the series refreshes itself every year with a new cast of characters and set of powers.

Futari wa Pretty Cure was dubbed into English and aired in Canada during the 2009-2010 television season.

No broadcast network was announced at the time of the press release and while Smile! was 49 episodes, 40 episodes are listed for Glitter Force.
