The upcoming Boom! Studios Mighty Morphin Power Rangers series is set to hit comic stores nationwide in January, 2016.

Fans rejoiced when it was announced that Boom! Studios had received the license to develop a Power Rangers comic series after the license was pulled from Papercutz earlier in the year. The studio revealed it would be basing the comic off of Mighty Morphin Power Rangers shortly after. Six exclusive single panel comics were released via the Boom! Studios booth at San Diego Comic Con to give fans a look at what to expect from the upcoming series.

Entertainment Weekly recently revealed the series will begin with Issue #0 in January, 2016. Issue #1 will subsequently be released in March, 2016. Covers, prices, issue lengths have not been announced at this time.

The series will be written by Kyle Higgins, known in the comic world for his work on DC’s Batman Eternal and Nightwing series. No main artist for the series has been announced. Issue #0 is slated to contain the six page short story previously available at San Diego Comic Con. This short story was written by Transformers: Windblade writer Mairghread Scott and illustrated by Translucid‘s Daniel Bayliss.

Power Rangers fans are hesitant at new ventures into the established universe but, Boom! Studios Editor-in-Chief says “Fans of BOOM! know we treat the existing properties we collaborate on with a focus on authenticity and quality. That’s the same sensibility we’re applying here. The Mighty Morphin Power Rangers have an awesome fan base and we can’t wait to show them how much fun we’re having.”

To celebrate the reveal, Entertainment Weekly has posted all new cover art of the White Ranger to match the previous six cover art posters released at San Diego Comic Con featuring pinup art by Robocop artist Goñi Montes. A physical release of the White Ranger art has not been announced.
