Ultraman Dyna Complete Blu-Ray Box Announced and Previewed

Tsuburaya has announced that Ultraman Dyna will be the next Ultra Series to receive the Complete Blu-Ray Box treatment this Fall.

Broadcast from 1997-1998, Ultraman Dyna functioned as a direct follow-up to Ultraman Tiga, set several years after Tiga’s final battle. Mankind has begun work on terraforming other planets, dubbing it the “Age of the Neo-Frontier”, with the flagship of this effort being on Mars. The peaceful times come to an end, however, with the arrival of the mysterious Spheres who unleash new monsters on both Mars and Earth.

To protect humanity, the GUTS organization reforms into “Super GUTS” (Global Unlimited Task Squad) with upgraded mecha and weaponry.  In the midst of the chaos, new recruit Shin Asuka (played by Takeshi Tsuruno) suddenly gains the ability to transform into a giant of light, later dubbed “Ultraman Dyna” by Super GUTS.

In addition to being a fan-favorite and the series that made Takeshi Tsuruno famous, Dyna has appeared in several movies, including the canonical Ultraman Tiga & Ultraman Dyna: Warriors of the Star of Light, The Super 8 Ultra Brothers, and most recently Ultra Galaxy Legends: The Movie, and Ultraman Saga which both further Asuka’s post-series adventures.

Following after the HD Remaster sets for Ultraman, Ultraseven, and Ultraman Tiga, Tsuburaya’s Ultraman Dyna Complete Blu-Ray Box boasts a complete HD remaster of not only the entire TV series (previewed above), but also the Ultraman Tiga & Dyna movie, finale TV special, and the direct-to-video side story, The Return of Hanejiro.

Much like the Tiga Blu-Ray Box, Dyna’s Box will also contain a comprehensive collection of special features from the previously-released TV Series and Heisei Ultra Series Gaiden DVD Box sets. Along with this, the set includes a 24-page all-color booklet, and an exclusive new  “Super GUTS Mecha Chronicle” featurette filmed entirely in 4K format, a first for Tsuburaya.

The Ultraman Dyna Complete Blu-Ray Box is currently available for pre-order, and will be released in Japan on September 25th for 48,600 yen
