The latest in the Super Sentai VS series opened this weekend at 3rd place, showcasing not two but five different teams of Rangers.
Zyuden Sentai Kyoryuger vs Tokumei Sentai Go-Busters: The Great Dinosaur Battle! Farewell, Eternal Friends, opened at 3rd this weekend on the Japanese box offices, bringing in an estimated $1,284,430, according to Box Office Mojo.
The latest in the long line of Sentai films bringing together the two most recent teams this year brought together not only the Kyoryugers and Go-Busters but also Kyoryu Sentai Zyuranger, the original dinosaur Sentai team from 1992, and Bakuryuu Sentai Abaranger, 2003’s Sentai team. The series also continued the tradition of showcasing the upcoming Sentai’s first battle. This year’s film saw the upcoming Ressha Sentai ToQger facing off against an enemy from Tokumei Sentai Go-Busters.
On Box Office Mojo’s charts, the film opened at 4th, just behind the live action Black Butler film starring Hiro Mizushima. Eiga.com’s chart reversed the positions of the films.
Kyoryuger vs Go-Busters was the second lowest opening for a Super Sentai VS film, which is below last year’s $1,581,020 for Tokumei Sentai Go-Busters vs Kaizoku Sentai Gokaiger and above Engine Sentai Go-Onger vs Juuken Sentai Gekiranger‘s $964,079.
