Kikaider REBOOT Details

N0060042_l

It’s been over 40 years since the Kikaider TV series aired. Toei are now coming back with a remake called Kikaider REBOOT

The movie is set in Tokyo, in the near future. The Japanese government begins the ARK Project in order to tackle problems humans can’t deal with by using robots for help, led by the great scientist, Nobuhiko Koumyouji. However, he dies mysteriously in what seems to be an accident. One year later, the project is taken over Professor Koumyouji’s rival, Kanzaki, and the project escalates out of hand. That’s when a robot with a heart called Jiro appears to save the day.

Jiro is played by Jingi Irie (Gokusen: The Movie), he’s joined by Nobuhiko’s daughter, Mitsuko, played by Aimi Satsuko (Karate-Robo Zaborgar). Other actors included are Kazushige Nagashima (Maguro), Hirotarou Honda (Kamen Rider Kabuto), Ryuuji Harada (Aibou) and Maryjun Takahashi (Rurouni Kenshin).

Producer Shinichirou Shirakura reveals that the script itself took 2 years to finish. The movie will be directed by Ten Shimoyama (Toei Hero Next: Piece) and written by Kento Shimoyama (Tokumei Sentai Go-Busters Returns vs. Doubutsu Sentai Go-Busters).

Kikaider REBOOT will be premiering May 24.

I've been floating around doing various things in the fandom for the past decade. Now living in Japan, writing news articles and occasionally starring in a show as "Only white guy in the background".
